49ers to host Oregon DE Brandon Dorlus on pre-draft visit

Even after securing Leonard Floyd and Yetur Gross-Matos in free agency, the San Francisco 49ers are diligently evaluating defensive ends for the upcoming draft. James Crepea of OregonLive.com reports that the Niners will host former Oregon defensive end Brandon Dorlus on a pre-draft visit.

NFL Draft Profile: Brandon Dorlus, Defensive Lineman, Oregon Ducks - Visit NFL Draft on Sports Illustrated, the latest news coverage, with rankings for NFL Draft prospects, College Football, Dynasty and Devy Fantasy Football.

As a senior in 2023, Dorlus tallied 25 tackles, including 6.5 for a loss, five sacks, and nine passes defensed through 14 game appearances, per Sports Reference. Over his collegiate career spanning five seasons, he accumulated 108 tackles, including 27 for a loss, 12 sacks, and 14 passes defensed.

During the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6’3″ and 283-pound Dorlus posted a 40-yard dash time of 4.85 seconds, a vertical jump of 30.5 inches, a broad jump of nine feet, 3 inches, a 7.43-second three-cone drill time, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.85 seconds.

In his scouting report on NFL.com, Lance Zierlein noted, “Dorlus is a fairly natural edge defender who can play standing or with a hand down. He doesn’t play with desired instincts or awareness in the run game but has the upper-body power to become a more forceful edge-setter or interior penetrator in the future. He shows an impressive ability to slide and slap his way around blockers for quick wins, even though the sack total fails to show it.”

The 2024 NFL Draft will take place in Detroit, Michigan, from Thursday, April 25, through Saturday, April 27.
