Georgia State OT Travis Glover Could be Upside Swing for Steelers

Massive Georgia State offensive tackle Travis Glover could be a natural upside swing for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers need to add to the offensive line is clear. It is a team that needs a tackle and center, and those positions need addressed by the time the group takes the field in Week 1. And while the first-round options exist for the Steelers at tackle, there have been very few middle round options linked to them.

Until earlier this week, when Tony Pauline said that assistant offensive line coach Isaac Williams helped put Glover through his positional drills. And later on, Glover stopped by the UPMC Rooney Sports Compelx for one of the Steelers 30 pre-draft visits that they can hand out.

The stop at Glover’s pro day is a notable one, especially since he is a smaller school prospect. When it comes to interest in those prospects, the threads need to come together, and for the Steelers, they certainly did come together quite well. Dane Brugler listed him as the top non-combine invite at offensive tackle.

Glover was a late add in the week at the Senior Bowl, where he impressed in his short time in Mobile. A massive frame, Glover was not at the NFL Combine but earned lots of buzz between his performance at the Senior Bowl and an earlier week at the Hula Bowl. And the tape showcases a mauler with a mentality to destroy everything within his path. In other words, he is a pretty strong cultural fit for what the Steelers want to do on the offensive line.

So, it is not a surprise for the Steelers to be interested in Glover. Typically when the team goes after these smaller school players, they almost always send a position coach out there or at the very least, bring them in for one of those 30 visits, so this is the key first step for the Steelers when it comes to landing someone like Glover.
