Jonathan Owens Gets Real on Proving Himself as NFL Starter After Big Year

Much like Jonathan Owens, the Green Bay Packers’ run this season has been a stellar one. With Aaron Rodgers now playing for the New York Jets, the ascension of Jordan Love as the team’s quarterback turned out to be a fruitful development.

Unfortunately, the Packers fell short during the final minutes of the game last Saturday night. Even though the team was in control for most of the match, several mistakes were committed that cost Green Bay the victory.

For starters, there was Anders Carlson’s missed kick that led the 49ers to capitalize on it and get a touchdown run in the process. Love had a chance to steal that win, but a wild pass sealed the Packers’ elimination from the playoffs.

But even with all those lapses, there are a lot of bright spots that came with the Packers’ promising run this season. One of those is how Jonathan Owens has improved his overall game during the past few months.

Appearing before the media after the game, Owens shared his thoughts about how he has stepped up as one of the Packers’ starters this season. He also explains his hope of being a proven starting safety in the NFL.

“I believe I have. I got the opportunity this year and didn’t look back. That’s all I wanted to do. Show how consistent I can be and how reliable I can be for the coaches and also special teams-wise as well. I pride myself on being able to do both. So regardless of whatever my role is I’m going to continue to maximize it,” Owens said, via Packers.com.

At this point in time, Owens is looking forward to decompressing after a stellar run with the Packers this season. He’s also planning to support his wife, Simone Biles, as she prepares for the 2024 Olympics. In any case, Owens’ upcoming campaign later this year deserves more attention when the new season commences.
