Packers Show Interest In Dynamic Offensive Playmaker For The 3rd Time

The Green Bay Packers are looking to take their offense to the next level in 2024.  Fortunately, that “next level” may only be one or two missing pieces away.  By the end of the 2023 season the Packers’ offense was playing as good as anyone in the league.

ESPN Stats & Info on X: "Troy RB Kimani Vidal ran for 233 yards and had 5 TD in the Sun Belt Conference Championship. He is the 1st player in FBS history

The signing of Josh Jacob and re-signing of AJ Dillon has created a bruising running back combination.  One that could benefit from a third option that would bring a different skill set.

The Green Bay Packers Have Shown Interest In 22-Year-Old Running Back On Three Different Occasions

According to Easton Butler:

The Packers met with Troy RB Kimani Vidal at his pro day, and have shown interest in him during the Combine and Senior Bowl.
Other teams that met with Vidal at the Troy pro day were the Eagles and Colts.

According to NFL Draft Buzz:

imani Vidal from Marietta High School was rated a 3-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 3-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Vidal joined Troy.

In 2020 as a freshman Vidal saw action in 9 games for the Trojans as he ran for 511 yards on 101 attempts for an impressive 5.1 yards per carry, with 4 TDs, with one fumble. As a receiver he made 26 receptions for 225 yards.

As a sophomore in 2021 he played 11 games. and rushed for 699 yards on 153 carries for 4.6 ypc, with 5 TDs, with 3 fumbles. In the passing game he pulled in 22 receptions for 134 yards.

In 2022 as a junior Vidal saw action in 13 games for the Trojans. He ran for an elite 1055 yards on 210 attempts for 5.0 ypc, with 9 TDs, with one fumble. As a receiver he made 23 receptions for 127 yards.

As a senior in 2023 he played in 14 games and ran for an elite 1661 yards on 295 carries for an impressive average of 5.6 ypc, with 14 TDs, with 2 fumbles. In the passing game he had 18 receptions for an elite 200 yards.

The NFL’s Draft Profile of Vidal looks like this:

Sawed-off running back with muscular frame and truckload of touches over the last two seasons. The production looks good, but the work was hard as his offensive line struggled with consistency in 2023. He lacks quality burst and elusiveness between the tackles and has trouble outrunning pursuit when plays flow wide.

He can get what is blocked and can be tough to get down once in the open field. He’s a plus pass catcher but might not be good enough in protection to warrant third-down value. Vidal could be an underdog to make a roster.
